Rooms With Stories is an independent publication about room by room and everything next to it. It exists because the useful version of this subject is usually the one nobody has time to write.
Everything we publish tries to be considered, tactile, anti-showroom, which mostly means saying what we actually think and showing the reasoning.
What we cover
The site is organised into 6 sections:
- Room by Room — Kitchens, bedrooms, hallways and what each one is actually asked to do.
- Materials — Wood, stone, plaster, paint and how surfaces age in a real house.
- Light — Daylight, lamps, colour temperature and the single biggest thing people get wrong.
- Small Spaces — Flats, rentals and rooms that have to be three things at once.
- Renovation — Budgets, trades, sequencing and the work behind a finished photograph.
- Objects & Craft — Furniture, textiles and the things worth keeping for thirty years.
Who writes it
Every article carries a named writer with a profile page, and nothing is published anonymously. You can see the full list on our writers page.
How it is funded
Advertising pays for this site. It does not buy coverage, placement or a favourable word, and our editorial policy sets out exactly how that separation works.
